Di hari raya

Terkenang daku kepada si dia

Kampungku indah nun jauh di sana

Ayah serta bondaku

Di tepian mandi

Danauku hijau yang aman damai selalu

Nun di sanalah tempat aku bertemu

Aku dan dia

Apakan daya

Masa tak akan kembali

Hancur musnahlah semuanya

Impian yang murni

Tinggal menjadi kenang-kenanganku

Hanya rangkaian kata dan lagu

kak endon dies after long battle with cancer

20 October 2005 -- The Prime Minister's wife, Kak Endon Mahmood died at 7.55 am Thursday at Sri Perdana, the Prime Minister's official residence in Putrajaya after fighting a long battle with cancer.News of her death was conveyed by Prime Minister Pak Lah to Bernama chairman Datuk Mohd Annuar Zaini. Endon, 64, breathed her last about 18 days after returning from undergoing a treatment for breast cancer in LA, USA....

She is survived by two children. The Prime Minister's Office announced that members of the public can pay their last respects at Seri Perdana from 11 am through the main gate of the official residence.Her remains will be brought to the Putrajaya Mosque for funeral prayers during Asar, before being laid to rest at the Muslim burial grounds at Taman Selatan, Precint 20, Putrajaya.

Pak Lah and her son Kamaluddin and his daughter Nori, daughter and son in laws, Azrene Abdullah and Khairy Jamaluddin respectively, the premier's four grandchildren who are Kamaluddin's children, were by Endon's side before she breathed her last.Endon's mother Datin Mariam Abdullah was also present.As a mark of respect, Several Cabinet Ministers including Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Information Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir cancelled all their official functions.Among others, the official launch of the national jersey for the SEA Games, scheduled to be officiated by the deputy premier, had been called off.

News of Endon's sudden death at the break of dawn shocked the nation, with Malaysians from all walks of life mourning the loss of the premier's wife.Reflecting the atmosphere of grief and sorrow, the weather in the Klang Valley also greeted the day with gloom.Radio and television stations switched to low gear by playing songs which depict the sombre mood and verses from the holy Quran.

Muslim radio deejays also called on listeners to offer the Al-Fatihah verse to Endon.News of Endon's death during the holy month of Ramadan, were immediately channelled through Bernama's Short Messaging Service (SMS).

VIPs and foreign dignitaries started to pay their last respects at Sri Perdana at 9.30 am. Among the earliest to arrive, Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar was seen busy managing the situation.Hundreds of people had also started to trickle in to pay their last respects to Endon.

Nuzul al-Quran jana perubahan, bina peradaban


Sememangnya sudah menjadi tradisi bagi kita umat Islam, pada setiap tanggal 17 Ramadhan kita akan mengadakan peringatan Nuzul Al-Quran. Bahkan hampir di seluruh negeri-negeri Islam, pemerintahan setempat secara rutin melaksanakan peringatan tersebut setiap tahun, yang sering-kali digabungkan dengan peristiwa Perang Badar Al-Kubra (terjadi pada 17 Ramadhan tahun ke 2 Hijrah, ketika umat Islam pertama kali melaksanakan shaum Ramadhan).


Allah berfirman dalam surah al-Anbiya’ ayat 108, yang bermaksud:

“Dan tidak Kami utuskan engkau (wahai Muhammad) melainkan untuk menjadi rahmat kepada seluruh alam.”

Pendapat pertama menyatakan bahawa Al-Quran diturunkan pada malam Isnin tanggal 17 Ramadhan, 13 tahun sebelum hijrah (6 Ogos 610 M). Pendapat kedua pula menyatakan bahawa Al-Quran telah diturunkan pada malam Isnin, tanggal 24 Ramadhan (13 Ogos 610 M). Pendapat yang pertama adalah berdasarkan ayat 41 dari Surah Al-Anfaal, manakala pendapat kedua dasarnya adalah ayat 1 Surah Al-Qadr dan ayat 1-4 Surah Ad-Dukhan.

Walaupun tradisi Nuzul Al-Quran telah lazim diperingati pada tanggal 17 Ramadhan, namun sesungguhnya pendapat kedua adalah lebih kuat dan lebih mungkin benarnya. Ini adalah kerana malam Lailatul Qadar yang dipercayai sebagai malam turunnya Al-Quran bukanlah terjadi pada tanggal 17 Ramadhan.

Hattan nafi nyanyi Negaraku tidak ikut versi sebenar


Malah, penyanyi itu juga mendakwa tidak melakukan sebarang kesilapan dari segi melodi dan lirik sewaktu mendendangkan lagu itu.
``Saya tidak menokok tambah melodi ataupun lirik semasa menyanyikan lagu Negaraku. Cuma lagu itu dinyanyikan tanpa diiringi muzik. Saya sudah menyanyi lebih 20 tahun. Jadi, saya tahulah sama ada lagu yang saya nyanyikan itu sumbang ataupun tidak. Sebelum saya nyanyikan lagu itu, saya terlebih dulu menyanyikannya di depan Datuk Seri Ibrahim Saad (Setiausaha Agung Persatuan Bola Sepak Malaysia). Beliau (Ibrahim) kata okay. Saya cuma ikut arahan sahaja. Lagu itu sengaja dinyanyikan tanpa iringan muzik dengan harapan dapat menimbulkan semangat patriotik yang lebih tinggi di kalangan penonton.


``Takkanlah itupun salah?'' soal penyanyi itu lagi dalam nada lantang.


``Saya kesal apabila orang seperti saya dijadikan bahan politik. Seorang Yang Berhormat tidak sepatutnya menghukum dan mengeluarkan kenyataan seperti itu.'' katanya.

Budget 2006: Strengthtening Resillience, Meeting challenges...


Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi presented the budget for 2006 to Parliament Friday with the theme "Strengthening Resilience, Meeting Challenges", reflecting the main thrust of the budget.

some of the highlights:

- Cigarette tax increased by 13%, while tax on liquor up by 9%.
- Bonus for civil servants to be paid in two equal instalments in October and November.
- Automatic income tax relief of up to RM4,000 for each child (RM9,000 for disabled children) studying in local institutions of higher learning.
- The government has been emphasising on development of biotechnology and in line with this it is contributing RM100mil to launch the 'Malaysian Life Sciences Capital Fund'. This is to encourage investments in biotechnolgy to be managed by Malaysian Technology Development Corporation.
- A Yayasan Amanah Hartanah Bumiputera, a Bumiputera property trust foundation with an initial capital of RM2bil is to be established to purchase commercial properties in prime locations
- The insurance industry continues to support the economy through the mobilisation of long-term savings, besides facilitating economic risk transfers.
