Ringo Starr (1940 - )

Richard Starkey, MBE (born 7 July 1940 in Liverpool, England), known by his stage name Ringo Starr, is an English popular musician, singer and actor, best known as the drummer of The Beatles. He was the oldest and shortest member of the band, and the last one to join the now familiar "Fab Four" line-up. He's the eldest member in The Beatles.

Starr married Maureen Cox on 11 February 1965, and they had three children, Zak, Jason, and Lee. The couple divorced in 1975. In 1980, on the set of the film Caveman he met actress Barbara Bach, who played the role of Major Anya Amasova (female lead and main 'Bond Girl') in The Spy Who Loved Me. They were married on 27 April 1981, just a few weeks after the film's release.

Starr's Website is updated by Starr himself, most notably with video clips that remain archived, on a somewhat regular basis (as of August 2006). Starr's mantra, often expressed on these video clips, is: "Peace and Love, Peace and Love, Peace and Love".

"Ringo's popularity brought forth a new paradigm in how the public saw drummers. We started to see the drummer as an equal participant in the compositional aspect. One of Ringo's great qualities was that he composed unique, stylistic drum parts for The Beatles songs. His parts are so signature to the songs that you can listen to a Ringo drum part without the rest of the music, and still identify the song."

Paul McCartney, Sir (1942 - )

Sir James Paul McCartney, MBE (born 18 June 1942, Liverpool) is an English singer and songwriter. Following his departure from The Beatles, McCartney launched a successful solo career and formed the band Wings with his wife, Linda McCartney. McCartney is listed in The Guinness Book Of Records as the most successful musician and composer in popular music history, with sales of 100 million singles and 60 gold discs. McCartney's song "Yesterday" is listed as the most covered song in history and has been played more than 7,000,000 times on American TV and radio.

on 11 March 1997, he was knighted (Knight Bachelor) for his "services to music". He dedicated his knighthood to fellow Beatles John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr and to the people of Liverpool

On 18 June 2006, McCartney celebrated his 64th birthday. Paul Vallely noted in The Independent:

"Paul McCartney’s 64th birthday is not merely a personal event. It is a cultural milestone for a generation too. For, such is the nature of celebrity, McCartney is one of those people who throughout his life has, in some intangible way, represented the hopes and aspirations, joys and sorrows of those who were born in the baby-boom era which had its adolescent awakening in the Sixties and Seventies."

George Harrison (1943-2001)

George Harrison was the lead guitarist of The Beatles. During the band’s phenomenally successful career, John Lennon and Paul McCartney were its main songwriters. However, Harrison generally wrote and/or sang lead on one or two songs for each album. His compositions earned him growing admiration as a considerable talent in his own right. Although he wrote some of the Beatles' best known songs, he was overshadowed by the Lennon/McCartney duo. However, as the years went on as a member of The Beatles, Harrison grew as an artist. Harrison became attracted to Indian music and Hinduism. Both would subsequently play a prominent role in Harrison’s life and music. Harrison was not a virtuoso guitarist, especially in the early days of the Beatles' recording career. Several of Harrison's famous Beatles guitar solos were recorded under specific directions from Paul McCartney, who on occasion demanded that Harrison play what he envisioned virtually note-for-note.

In 2003, Harrison was included in Rolling Stone Magazines list of The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. Harrison died on 29 November 2001. He was 58 years old and died in a Hollywood Hills mansion that was once leased by Sir Paul McCartney.

"We were talking about the space between us all and people who hide themselves behind a wall of illusion never glimpse the truth then it's far too late when they pass away.." - Within you Without you (1967)

John Lennon (1940-1980)

John Lennon, MBE (born John Winston Lennon, 9 October 1940 – 8 December 1980) was an iconic English 20th century rock and roll songwriter and singer, and the founder of The Beatles. He and fellow-Beatle Paul McCartney formed the massively successful Lennon-McCartney songwriting partnership throughout the 1960s, writing songs for The Beatles and other artists to record. Lennon was usually considered the "leader" of The Beatles.

Lennon's songwriting was often full of pain and hope. His melodies were at times beautiful and at times dark. His lyrics reflected his personal and career demands, philosophical outlook, his unease with his fame, and current events. As a writing pair, Lennon's hard-edged and McCartney's optimistic styles complemented one another. The Beatles, largely under Lennon and McCartney's influence and with their record producer George Martin, revolutionised rock music with their lyrics, instrumentation, harmony, and electronic effects, changing the nature of popular music at the time and paving the way for the music of the 1970s, 1980s and beyond. In his solo career distinct from The Beatles, Lennon wrote and recorded songs that became icons of the age, such as "Imagine" and "Give Peace a Chance".

At 10:50 p.m. on 8 December 1980, Mark David Chapman deliberately shot and fatally wounded John Lennon in front of Lennon's residence, the Dakota, when Lennon and Ono returned from recording Ono's single "Walking on Thin Ice" for their next album

"More popular than Jesus", "Turn on, tune in, drop out"

December Fest: The Beatles - LOVE album

After being asked by the remaining Beatles, Ringo and Paul, along with Yoko Ono Lennon and Olivia Harrison, to make experimental mixes from their master tapes for a collaboration with Cirque du Soleil, Sir George Martin, The Beatles legendary producer, and his son Giles Martin have been working with the entire archive of Beatles recordings to create LOVE. The result is an unprecedented approach to the music. Using the master tapes at Abbey Road Studios, Sir George and Giles have created a unique soundscape. The release of this album, which is also featured in the Cirque du Soleil/Beatles collaborative production of the same name at The Mirage in Las Vegas, has been much anticipated.

"This album puts the Beatles back together again, because suddenly there's John and George with me and Ringo," said Paul McCartney. "It's kind of magical."

"George and Giles did such a great job combining these tracks. It's really powerful for me and I even heard things I'd forgotten we'd recorded." commented Ringo Starr.

"The album has the feeling of love and that's why the title is Beatles LOVE," added Yoko Ono Lennon, "They have let everything that is beautiful and daring come out."

"The music is stunning. I think the most amazing thing about it is that you can pull it apart and all the elements carry with it the essence of the entire song," said Olivia Harrison.

Great Pyramid of Giza

The Great Pyramid is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still standing. It ranked as the tallest structure on Earth for more than 43 centuries, only to be surpassed in height in the nineteenth century AD. It is one of the oldest structures on the face of the earth and arguably the best built. The monument was built by the Egyptian pharaoh Khufu of the Fourth Dynasty around the year BC 2560 to serve as a tomb when he died. It took 100,000 people working over a twenty year period to construct.

There must be something make it standing still until today... Only Him knows everything... mystery goes on...

Across The Universe

Words are flying out like endless rain into a paper cup
They slither while they pass
They slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow waves of joy are drifting thorough my open mind
Possessing and caressing me.................................................

Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world

Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes
That call me on and on across the universe
Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box
they tumble blindly as they make their way across the universe
.......................................................

Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world

Sounds of laughter shades of life are ringing through my open ears
exciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns
It calls me on and on across the universe
......................................................

Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world

My Chemical Romance

The Black Parade is the third studio album by New Jersey rock quintet My Chemical Romance. Like the band's first two albums, it is a concept album, centering around a character known as "the Patient," who suffers an untimely death at a young age.

The album was intentionally leaked in its entirety on October 19. In an interview with MTV, the band said that the name "The Black Parade" was chosen due to a belief that death comes to individuals as their most powerful memory. The main character in the concept went to a parade with his father at a young age, therefore death comes to him as a "Black Parade".

It debuted at #2 on the UK album chart, and #2 on the US Billboard, selling 240,000 copies, far surpassing the 38,000 first week sales of previous album Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge. The album debuted at #3 on the Australian ARIA Albums Chart, going Gold (35,000+ copies shipped), and staying atop the chart in New Zealand and certified Gold there, for shipments of over 7,500.

Get your boss to like you

The best way to get into the good books of your boss is to be a loyal, honest and efficient worker. It feels good to be praised by your boss. It is even better if your ideas are accepted by him or her and implemented in the company. Wouldn't you feel over the moon if your boss regarded you as a key employee in the company and implemented almost every proposal of yours? A promotion and a bigger pay cheque would be easier to justify. But how are you going to make it all happen? These are eight simple steps you can follow:

1. Make every meeting with your boss worth his while
2. Choose the appropriate mode of communication
3. Observe proper communication etiquette
4. Important topics and issues come first
5. Be constructive and inspirational
6. Provide alternative solutions
7. Bosses are not always right
8. Adopt an open and honest attitude

Many employees hope to get into the good books of their bosses, as they view it as a way to get promotions and pay raises. However, bosses value employees who possess "real substance" rather than merely perform lip service. To be valued highly by your boss or the company, you have to do it the right way.

Itali win 2006 world cup

At the end of it all, Italy finished on top thanks to a real team effort. Twenty-one of Lippi's 23-man squad played and ten of them found the net at these finals. With a defence built around goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and captain Fabio Cannavaro, Italy defended as well as any side in FIFA World Cup history, conceding just two goals – one an own goal, the other a penalty.

There much was else to admire, from the silk-and-steel midfield combination of Andrea Pirlo and Gennaro Gattuso, to the swashbuckling raids of full-backs Gianluca Zambrotta and Fabio Grosso. It was the Grosso's goal that swung a superb semi-final against Germany the Italians' way and his penalty that sealed victory in the Final.

Viva Italiano...

Jack Sparrow

"You seem somewhat familiar, have I threatened you before?"

Captain Jack Sparrow commands the legendary and accursed ship named the Black Pearl. In some versions of the script, it is said that Jack was a cartographer before he became a pirate, and this was how he discovered the location of the Isla de Muerta.

Sparrow is also known for his altruistic nature; he often puts himself in harm's way to save other people, most notably Will and Elizabeth. The film's script suggests Jack's kindness is part of the reason why his crew mutinied—when Jack offers a nonviolent way to find a piece of the cursed Aztec gold on the Navy ship Interceptor, Barbossa claims, "Now, y'see Jack, that's exactly the attitude that lost you the Pearl. People are easier to search when they're dead." Additionally, he appears highly adept at employing game theory to achieve his ends.

No place for violence in Islam - Syeikh Tantawi

Muslims who resort to violence thinking they were doing their religion a favour are totally ignorant about Islam, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Mosque Prof Dr Mohammad Sayyed Tantawi said yesterday. He also said that differences in religious practices should not prevent Muslims from working with non-Muslims, citing Malaysia as an example of a country where Muslims and non-Muslims worked and lived in harmony.Saying Islam stood for peace, Tantawi added that Muslims who promoted or perpetuated violence needed to be re-educated."Islam is innocent of them and their acts.

However, if Muslim properties, religion and countries have been attacked, they should defend themselves," he said at a public talk entitled "Muslim Unity in the 21st Century: Challenges and Prospects" at the International Islamic University Malaysia.Tantawi said knowledge in various fields could unite the ummah (Muslim community), serve humanity and assist countries in their development. "One of the ways to strengthen the ummah is to increase the number of ulama and educated people because they are more likely to understand Islam," he said.

Tantawi said it was important for Muslims to specialise, and at the same time co-operate with others from different fields of knowledge and expertise. Such co-operation was one way to make the ummah stronger, he added. He added that co-operation should be extended to non-Muslims as well. "The difference in beliefs shouldn’t stop us from helping each other. For example, we must learn from the West and they also have to learn from us so that a dialogue of civilisations can take place," he said. He cited Malaysia as a good example of co-operation between Muslims and non-Muslims that has helped improve the welfare of all citizens.Tantawi said using knowledge for destruction was prohibited in Islam. - Source: New Straits Times

Airbrush Arts

The airbrush is a small, highly precise spray gun for applying paint. It was invented in 1879 by Abner Peeler, in Iowa, USA. This first airbrush used a hand-operated compressor, and the inventor patented it "for the painting of watercolors and other artistic purposes". However this first device was rather crude, being based on a number of spare parts in a jeweller's workshop such as old screwdrivers and welding torches. It took 4 years of further development before a practical device was developed. This was marketed by Liberty Walkup, who taught airbrush technique to American Impressionist master Wilson Irvine. The first modern type airbrush came along in 1893, presented by Thayer and Chandler art materials company at the World Columbian Exposition in Chicago, invented by Charles Burdick. This device looked like a pen and worked in a different manner to Peeler's device, being essentially the same as a modern airbrush. The most highly refined airbrushes today are manufactured in Japan, one of the most popular brands is Iwata. Aerograph, Burdick's original company, still makes and sells airbrushes in England.

The technique allows for the blending of two or more colors in a seamless way, with one color slowly becoming another color. Freehand airbrushed images, without the aid of stencils or friskets, have a floating quality, with softly defined edges between colors, and between foreground and background colors. A well skilled airbrush artist can produce paintings of photographic realism or can simulate almost any painting medium. Painting at this skill level involves supplementary tools, such as masks and friskets, and very careful planning.

KL International Motorshow '06

Airbrushing is a highly versatile technique that can completely transform any automobiles and accessories to a moving work of art. Happening exclusively at KLIMS 2006 is the airbrush demonstration. On the opening days of KLIMS, an airbrush artist will perform the live airbrushing technique on the body of a car. Visitors will be able to witness how the artists transform a plain-looking car into a fully airbrushed piece of art over the 10 days at KLIMS 2006. The artist will also be performing the airbrush technique on accessories and small items such as helmets.

William Wallace, the Freedom fighter

William Wallace is one of Scotland's greatest national heroes, undisputed leader of the Scottish resistance forces during the first years of the long and ultimately successful struggle to free Scotland from English rule at the end of the 13th Century.
Records of Wallace's life are patchy and often inaccurate. This is partly because early accounts of his heroic deeds are speculative, and partly because he inspired such fear in the minds of English writers at the time, that they demonised him, his achievements, and his motives.

Many of the stories surrounding Wallace have been traced to a late-15th Century romance "The Wallace", ascribed to Henry the minstrel, or "Blind Harry". This epic is vehemently anti-English in language and tone. The most popular tales about Wallace are not supported by documentary evidence, but they show his firm hold on the imagination of his people. He represented the spirit of the common man striving for freedom against oppression, and exposed the Scottish nobility of the time as a group of unprincipled opportunists.

Wallace's place as a hero in Scottish history is assured. There can be little doubt that he has always been revered as a self-effacing and passionate patriot by later generations of Scots. Unlike the conniving Scottish nobles who had collaborated with the English in return for financial benefits, Wallace had never sought personal fame nor benefited from it. He had accrued neither wealth nor land....

Strawberry Fields Forever - A new year song

Let me take you down, 'cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields.
Nothing is real and nothing to get hungabout.
Strawberry Fields forever.
Living is easy with eyes closed,
misunderstanding all you see.
It's getting hard to be someone but it all works out,
it doesn't matter much to me.
Let me take you down,
'cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields.
Nothing is real and nothing to get hungabout.
Strawberry Fields forever.
No one I think is in my tree,
I mean it must be high or low.
That is you can't you know tune in but it's all right,
that is I think it's not too bad.
Let me take you down, 'cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields.
Nothing is real and nothing to get hungabout.
Strawberry Fields forever.
Always, no sometimes, think it's me, but you know
I know when it's a dream.
I think I know I mean a 'Yes' but it's all wrong,
that is I think I disagree.Let me take you down,
'cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields.
Nothing is real and nothing to get hungabout.
Strawberry Fields forever.
Strawberry Fields forever.

Happy belated new year 2006....
