A Baca Collective

Reading is not just confined in bookstores and libraries anymore. The improvisation, renewal and rejuvenation of space have created reading spaces, be it in a community space, cafes or personal corner at home. Such spaces serve as refreshing and unconventional avenue for those who seek a spot to flip a book or to work on their laptop.

Born from the love of running and promoting reading spaces, three reading spaces @ruangkongsi, @nui.kopi and @books_rnr banded together to form A Baca Collective (ABC), an ad-hoc reading group. In conjunction with @georgetownlitfest 2025, ABC has planned a series of programmes in support of the festival.

While GTLF offers a space where literature matters, reading spaces offer a space where readers matter.

More than just about books, these spaces celebrate the act of reading itself, the atmosphere, the pace, and the community that forms around it. We invite all festival-goers to explore community-driven reading spaces in Penang, spaces that nurture a reader-centric environment and encourage a culture of slow and reflective reading.
