Harley-Davidson was founded in 1903 by four visionary men in Milwaukee, Wisconsin:
William S. Harley – The chief engineer and co-creator of the original design. He was the technical mind behind the first Harley-Davidson engine.
Arthur Davidson – The youngest of the Davidson brothers and the first general sales manager. He played a key role in promoting and expanding the brand.
Walter Davidson – Arthur’s older brother and the first president of the company. He was instrumental in building the first production motorcycle.
William A. Davidson – The eldest Davidson brother who joined later as the works manager, bringing mechanical expertise and helping scale up production.
